The Diary of Katie Wissler was written from 1878 to 1879 by the young student of a Maryland girls boarding school, the Hagerstown Female Seminary. At one point she attended a performance by a "darky band." Also included are two broadsides from 1880 that advertise Wissler's musical performance in seminary entertainments.
